Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: An acre is exactly 4,046.8564224 square meters and a hectare exactly 10,000. Regional land measures such as the Indian bigha, gunta and cent have no single national definition and vary by state, so any conversion for them must name the state.
