What this calculator will compute
Inputs: age, sex, race, total cholesterol, HDL, systolic BP, BP treatment, diabetes and smoking.
Outputs: 10-year ASCVD risk (%), risk category and statin recommendation band.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: 2013 ACC and AHA Pooled Cohort Equations: a Cox model with sex and race specific coefficient sets on log-transformed age, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure with a treatment indicator, smoking and diabetes, returning 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The AHA PREVENT equations, published in 2023, are the race-free successor.
