Beam Deflection Calculator
Beam Deflection: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers span, support conditions and load type and magnitude and position. Stub page. Not published yet.
Beam Deflection Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering structural engineering.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: span, support conditions, load type and magnitude and position, elastic modulus and second moment of area or section selection.
Outputs: maximum deflection and its location, deflection profile, maximum moment, maximum shear, span to deflection ratio and slope at supports.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Euler-Bernoulli beam theory: EI d^4y/dx^4 = w(x). Standard cases give simply supported uniform load delta = 5wL^4/(384EI), cantilever point load at the tip delta = PL^3/(3EI), fixed-fixed uniform delta = wL^4/(384EI). Superposition combines load cases on a linear elastic beam.
