Belt And Chain Drive Calculator
Belt And Chain Drive: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers driver and driven diameters or tooth counts and center distance. Stub page. Not published yet.
Belt And Chain Drive Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering mechanical engineering.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: driver and driven diameters or tooth counts, center distance, input speed, transmitted power, service factor and belt or chain type and pitch.
Outputs: speed ratio, output speed, belt or chain length, wrap angle, linear speed, required belt section or chain size, number of strands and tension.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Speed ratio = driven diameter or sprocket teeth divided by the driver. Belt length for an open drive L = 2C + (pi/2)(D + d) + (D - d)^2/(4C). Chain length in pitches = 2C/p + (N1 + N2)/2 + ((N2 - N1)/(2 pi))^2 p/C, rounded to an even number of pitches.
