Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: For a pay-in-four plan the stated cost is zero interest, so the true cost is the late fee exposure and the opportunity cost of committed cash flow. For longer installment BNPL the plan carries a stated APR and is an ordinary annuity. Effective cost of a pay-in-four plan that incurs one late fee is very high when annualized over the six-week term.
