Refinance Break-Even Calculator
Refinance Break-Even: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers current balance (currency). Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Refinance Break-Even Calculator is a planned calculator in the real estate section of Super Calculator, covering amortization and payoff.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: current balance (currency), current rate (%), remaining term (months), new rate (%), new term (years), closing costs (currency) and holding period (years).
Outputs: break-even (months), monthly saving (currency), lifetime interest change (currency) and term-neutral saving (currency).
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Break-even months = total refinance costs / monthly payment saving, corrected for the fact that resetting a seasoned loan to a fresh 30-year term reduces the payment partly by re-extending the term. The honest comparison holds the payoff date constant or compares total remaining interest, not payments.
