Concrete Shear Reinforcement Calculator
Concrete Shear Reinforcement: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers section dimensions. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Concrete Shear Reinforcement Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering structural engineering.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: section dimensions, concrete strength, shear force, stirrup size and yield, design code and strut angle.
Outputs: concrete shear capacity, required stirrup spacing, maximum permitted spacing, minimum shear reinforcement, utilization and stirrup schedule.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: ACI 318 gives Vc = 2 lambda sqrt(f’c) bw d in imperial units, with stirrup contribution Vs = Av fyt d / s, requiring phi(Vc + Vs) to exceed Vu. Eurocode 2 uses the variable strut inclination method, with no concrete contribution once shear reinforcement is required.
