Cronbach's Alpha Calculator
Cronbach's Alpha: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers respondent by item score matrix. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Cronbach’s Alpha Calculator is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering reliability and agreement.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: respondent by item score matrix and reverse-scored item flags.
Outputs: Cronbach’s alpha, alpha if item deleted, item-total correlations and inter-item correlation matrix.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: alpha = (k/(k-1)) * (1 - sum(item variances)/variance of total score), where k is the number of items. McDonald’s omega, computed from a factor loading model, is the increasingly preferred alternative because alpha assumes tau-equivalence.
