Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: DPO = (accounts payable / cost of goods sold) * days in period. Extending DPO improves the cash conversion cycle but forfeits early payment discounts, whose annualized cost is (discount / (1 - discount)) * (365 / (net days - discount days)).
