Decibel And Sound Intensity Calculator
Decibel And Sound Intensity: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers sound pressure or intensity. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Decibel And Sound Intensity Calculator is a planned calculator in the science section of Super Calculator, covering physics: waves and oscillations.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: sound pressure or intensity, reference level, multiple source levels, distance, weighting (A, C and Z).
Outputs: decibel level, combined level of multiple sources, level at a distance, pressure and intensity and exposure limit comparison.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Sound pressure level dB = 20 log10(p/p0) with reference 20 micropascals; sound intensity level dB = 10 log10(I/I0) with reference 10^-12 W/m^2. Levels add logarithmically: two equal sources give a 3 dB increase, not 6 dB. Inverse square law drops level by 6 dB per doubling of distance.
