Decimal To Fraction Converter
Decimal To Fraction: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers decimal value. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.
Decimal To Fraction Converter is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering algebra and number theory.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: decimal value, repeating digit marker, maximum denominator and target precision.
Outputs: exact fraction, simplified fraction, mixed number, nearest fraction with a limited denominator and error of approximation.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Terminating decimals convert as digits over the matching power of ten, reduced by the GCD. Repeating decimals convert exactly by the algebraic method, giving 0.overline(3) = 1/3 and 0.1overline(6) = 1/6. Continued fraction expansion gives the best rational approximation within a denominator limit.
