Electric Motor Sizing Calculator
Electric Motor Sizing: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers load type and parameters. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Electric Motor Sizing Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering electrical engineering.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: load type and parameters, duty cycle, speed, efficiency and power factor, supply voltage and phase, service factor and starting method.
Outputs: required power (kW and hp), full load current, starting current, recommended motor frame size, breaker and overload sizing and starting method recommendation.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Required shaft power from the load: P = T omega for rotation, P = F v for linear motion, P = rho g Q H / eta for pumping. Motor full load current I = P/(sqrt(3) V pf eta) for three phase. Starting current is typically six to eight times full load for direct on line starting.
