Electric Versus Gasoline Running Cost Comparison: a planned Super Calculator tool. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.
Electric Versus Gasoline Running Cost Comparison is a planned calculator in the transport section of Super Calculator, covering vehicles and transport.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: EV efficiency (kWh/100km or mi/kWh), electricity tariff (currency/kWh), ICE economy (l/100km or mpg), fuel price (currency/unit), annual distance (km or mi), price premium (currency) and maintenance delta (currency/yr).
Outputs: EV cost per 100 units (currency), ICE cost per 100 units (currency), annual saving (currency), break-even years (yr) and break-even distance (km or mi).
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Cost per distance for an electric vehicle equals consumption in kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers times the tariff divided by charging efficiency; for a combustion vehicle it equals fuel consumption times fuel price. Break-even distance for a higher purchase price equals the price premium divided by the per-distance saving.
