Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Fourier series coefficients a_n and b_n by integration of f(t) against cos(n omega t) and sin(n omega t) over one period. Discrete data uses the fast Fourier transform, with frequency resolution equal to the sample rate divided by the number of samples and the Nyquist limit at half the sample rate.
