What this calculator will compute
Inputs: age, sex, total cholesterol, HDL, systolic BP, BP treatment, smoking and diabetes.
Outputs: 10-year cardiovascular risk (%), heart age and risk category.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Framingham Heart Study general cardiovascular risk model, D’Agostino 2008: sex-specific Cox models on age, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure with a treatment indicator, smoking and diabetes, giving 10-year general cardiovascular disease risk. A points-based simplified version also exists.
