Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Under the World Handicap System, a score differential equals (adjusted gross score minus course rating) times 113 divided by the slope rating; the handicap index is the average of the lowest eight differentials from the most recent twenty scores, with adjustments. Course handicap equals index times slope divided by 113 plus a course and par adjustment.
