Hyponatremia Sodium Correction Rate Calculator

Hyponatremia Sodium Correction Rate: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers serum sodium (mmol/L), weight (kg) and sex. Stub page. Not published yet.

Hyponatremia Sodium Correction Rate Calculator is a planned calculator in the health section of Super Calculator, covering clinical dosing and scores.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: serum sodium (mmol/L), weight (kg), sex, age, infusate type and target correction rate.

Outputs: predicted sodium change per liter, infusion rate (mL/h) and 24-hour ceiling.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Adrogue-Madias: change in serum sodium per liter of infusate = (infusate sodium + infusate potassium - serum sodium) / (total body water + 1), with total body water estimated as a sex and age specific fraction of body weight. Correction is limited to a maximum of 8 to 10 mmol/L in 24 hours to avoid osmotic demyelination.
