Implied Volatility Calculator
Implied Volatility: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers market option price (currency). Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Implied Volatility Calculator is a planned calculator in the finance section of Super Calculator, covering options and derivatives.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: market option price (currency), spot (currency), strike (currency), time to expiry (years), rate (%), dividend yield (%) and option type.
Outputs: implied volatility (%), convergence status and vega at the solution.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Solves Black-Scholes for sigma given an observed market price, using Newton-Raphson on vega with a bisection fallback because vega approaches zero deep in and out of the money, where Newton fails to converge. No closed form exists.
