Inclined Plane Calculator

Inclined Plane: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers mass and incline angle or rise and run. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.

Inclined Plane Calculator is a planned calculator in the science section of Super Calculator, covering physics: mechanics.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: mass, incline angle or rise and run, friction coefficient and applied force.

Outputs: parallel and normal components, friction force, acceleration, force required to hold or move and mechanical advantage.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Resolve weight into components mg sin(theta) along the slope and mg cos(theta) normal to it. Acceleration a = g(sin theta - mu cos theta) when sliding. Mechanical advantage of the ramp is the slope length divided by the height.
