Insulin Correction Factor and Carb Ratio: a planned Super Calculator tool. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.

Insulin Correction Factor and Carb Ratio Calculator is a planned calculator in the health section of Super Calculator, covering clinical dosing and scores.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: total daily insulin dose (units), current glucose, target glucose, carbohydrate (g) and insulin type.

Outputs: correction factor, carbohydrate ratio and suggested bolus (units).

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Rule of 1800 for rapid-acting insulin: correction factor in mg/dL per unit = 1800 / total daily dose; the rule of 500 gives the insulin-to-carbohydrate ratio as 500 / total daily dose. SI equivalents use 100 and the same denominators for mmol/L.
