ISO Exercise And AMT Calculator
ISO Exercise And AMT: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers options held. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.
ISO Exercise And AMT Calculator is a planned calculator in the finance section of Super Calculator, covering equity compensation.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: options held, strike (currency), current 409A or market value (currency), other income (USD), filing status, state and prior AMT credit (USD).
Outputs: bargain element (USD), AMT payable (USD), shares exercisable with no AMT, AMT credit generated (USD) and cash needed to exercise (USD).
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Exercising an incentive stock option creates no regular taxable income but adds the bargain element, being (fair market value less strike) multiplied by shares, to alternative minimum taxable income. The calculator solves the number of shares exercisable before alternative minimum tax is triggered.
