LDL Cholesterol Calculator (Friedewald and Martin-Hopkins)
LDL Cholesterol Calculator (Friedewald and Martin-Hopkins): a planned Super Calculator tool. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
LDL Cholesterol Calculator (Friedewald and Martin-Hopkins) is a planned calculator in the health section of Super Calculator, covering clinical dosing and scores.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: total cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, units and equation choice.
Outputs: calculated LDL, non-HDL cholesterol and total to HDL ratio.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Friedewald 1972: LDL = total cholesterol - HDL - triglycerides/5 in mg/dL, or /2.2 in mmol/L, invalid when triglycerides exceed 400 mg/dL. The Martin-Hopkins 2013 equation replaces the fixed divisor with an adjustable factor from a 180-cell table and is valid to higher triglycerides.
