What this calculator will compute
Inputs: age, sex, country, health adjustment and couple flag.
Outputs: median life expectancy, age at the 90th percentile of survival and probability at least one of a couple survives to each age (%).
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Applies national period or cohort life tables to give the probability of surviving to each age, and reports the age reached by a chosen percentile of the cohort, which is the correct planning horizon rather than the median life expectancy.
