Matrix Determinant Calculator
Matrix Determinant: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers square matrix. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.
Matrix Determinant Calculator is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering linear algebra.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: square matrix, method (LU, cofactor expansion and rule of Sarrus).
Outputs: determinant, singularity verdict, cofactor expansion steps and LU factors.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: LU decomposition with partial pivoting gives the determinant as the product of the pivots, with a sign from the row swaps. Cofactor expansion is exact for small matrices and factorially slow beyond about 5 by 5.
