Monte Carlo Retirement Simulation

Monte Carlo Retirement Simulation: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers portfolio (currency). Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.

Monte Carlo Retirement Simulation is a planned calculator in the finance section of Super Calculator, covering retirement.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: portfolio (currency), annual withdrawal (currency), horizon (years), expected return (%), volatility (%), inflation (%) and number of simulations.

Outputs: success probability (%), percentile terminal wealth (currency), median depletion year and withdrawal for a target success rate (currency).

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Simulates thousands of return paths drawn from a specified distribution or bootstrapped from historical returns, applying withdrawals and inflation each period, and reports the proportion of paths where the portfolio survives. Path dependence means the average return tells the reader almost nothing about the failure risk.
