Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: MTBF = total operating time / number of failures. MTTR = total repair time / number of repairs. Inherent availability A = MTBF / (MTBF + MTTR). Series systems multiply availabilities; parallel redundant systems combine as 1 - product(1 - A_i).
