Quadratic Equation Solver
Quadratic Equation: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers coefficient a. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.
Quadratic Equation Solver is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering algebra and number theory.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: coefficient a, coefficient b and coefficient c.
Outputs: root 1, root 2, discriminant, vertex, axis of symmetry, factored form and step-by-step working.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Roots of ax^2 + bx + c = 0 by x = (-b plus or minus sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a. The discriminant b^2 - 4ac determines two real roots, one repeated root or a complex conjugate pair. Use the numerically stable form q = -(b + sign(b)sqrt(D))/2 with x1 = q/a and x2 = c/q when b^2 dominates 4ac.
