Reynolds Number Calculator
Reynolds Number: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers fluid density and viscosity or fluid selection and velocity or flow rate. Stub page. Not published yet.
Reynolds Number Calculator is a planned calculator in the science section of Super Calculator, covering physics: fluid mechanics.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: fluid density and viscosity or fluid selection, velocity or flow rate, characteristic length or pipe diameter, temperature and duct shape.
Outputs: Reynolds number, flow regime, hydraulic diameter, friction factor and entrance length.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Re = rho v D / mu = v D / nu, dimensionless. In circular pipes, flow is laminar below roughly Re 2300, transitional to about 4000, and turbulent above. For non-circular ducts the hydraulic diameter 4A/P replaces D.
