Seismic Base Shear Calculator
Seismic Base Shear: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers site location or spectral accelerations, site class and risk category. Stub page. Not published yet.
Seismic Base Shear Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering structural engineering.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: site location or spectral accelerations, site class, risk category, structural system and response modifier, building weight and height and code.
Outputs: seismic response coefficient, base shear, vertical force distribution, fundamental period, seismic design category and drift limits.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: ASCE 7 equivalent lateral force method: V = Cs W with Cs = SDS/(R/Ie), bounded above by SD1/(T(R/Ie)) and below by a floor value. Eurocode 8 uses Fb = Sd(T1) m lambda with the design spectrum reduced by the behavior factor q.
