Statistical Power Calculator

Statistical Power: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers test type and effect size. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published.

Statistical Power Calculator is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering statistics and probability.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: test type, effect size, sample size per group, alpha and tail selection.

Outputs: achieved power, beta (type II error rate), required n for a target power and power curve points.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Power = 1 - beta = P(reject H0 | H1 true), computed from the noncentral distribution of the test statistic. For a two-sample t test, the noncentrality parameter is delta = d * sqrt(n/2) and power is the area of the noncentral t beyond the critical value.
