What this calculator will compute
Inputs: dimension chain with nominals and tolerances, direction of each contributor, method, assumed Cp or sigma level and gap requirement.
Outputs: nominal gap, worst case minimum and maximum, RSS range, predicted defect rate, contributor sensitivity ranking and required tolerance to meet a gap.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Worst case stack sums the nominal dimensions and the tolerances arithmetically, guaranteeing assembly but demanding tight tolerances. Root sum square stack combines as sqrt(sum of squares), valid where dimensions are independent and normally distributed, and is used with a process capability assumption.
