Transformer Turns Ratio And Sizing Calculator

Transformer Turns Ratio And Sizing: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers primary and secondary voltages and kVA rating. Stub page. Not published yet.

Transformer Turns Ratio And Sizing Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering electrical engineering.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: primary and secondary voltages, kVA rating, phase count, impedance (%), load power factor and efficiency.

Outputs: turns ratio, primary and secondary full load currents, kVA required for a load, voltage regulation, available fault current and losses.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Np/Ns = Vp/Vs = Is/Ip for an ideal transformer. Apparent power rating in kVA sets the current capacity: I = kVA times 1000 divided by V for single phase, or divided by (sqrt(3) times V) for three phase. Impedance percentage determines the fault current available at the secondary.
