What this calculator will compute
Inputs: mode (label), distance (km or mi), passengers (n), vehicle class (label), cabin class (label) and radiative forcing multiplier (n).
Outputs: CO2 equivalent (kg), per passenger (kg), equivalent in trees or households (n) and offset cost (currency).
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Emissions equal distance times a mode-specific emission factor per passenger kilometer, with a radiative forcing multiplier applied to aviation to account for non-CO2 effects. Factors are published by national environment departments and differ by country grid mix and fleet, so they are data, not constants.
