Variance Calculator
Variance: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers data column and sample or population basis. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.
Variance Calculator is a planned calculator in the mathematics section of Super Calculator, covering descriptive and summary statistics.
What this calculator will compute
Inputs: data column and sample or population basis.
Outputs: variance, standard deviation, mean and deviation table.
Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Sample variance s^2 = sum((x - xbar)^2)/(n-1); population variance sigma^2 = sum((x - mu)^2)/N. The computational form sum(x^2) - (sum x)^2/n is numerically unstable for large values with small spread and should not be used.
