Wind Load Calculator

Wind Load: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers basic wind speed or location. Stub page: the tool, its formula and a worked example are not published yet.

Wind Load Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering structural engineering.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: basic wind speed or location, exposure or terrain category, building height and dimensions, roof geometry, risk category, enclosure classification and code.

Outputs: velocity pressure, design pressures by surface, uplift, total base shear and component and cladding pressures.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: ASCE 7 gives velocity pressure qz = 0.00256 Kz Kzt Kd Ke V^2 in imperial units, with design pressure p = q G Cp minus internal pressure. Eurocode 1 Part 1-4 uses qp(z) = ce(z) qb with qb = 0.5 rho vb^2, and national annexes set the basic wind map.
