Wire Size And Ampacity Calculator

Wire Size And Ampacity: a planned Super Calculator tool. Covers load current or power and voltage. Stub page while the tool and its worked example are prepared.

Wire Size And Ampacity Calculator is a planned calculator in the engineering section of Super Calculator, covering electrical engineering.

What this calculator will compute

Inputs: load current or power, voltage, conductor material, insulation temperature rating, ambient temperature, installation method, conductor count and code.

Outputs: minimum conductor size (AWG or mm^2), corrected ampacity, derating factors applied, breaker size, conduit size and voltage drop check.

Formula, recorded as scope and not yet verified against a primary source: Select a conductor whose ampacity, after correction for ambient temperature and for the number of current carrying conductors bundled, meets or exceeds the load. NEC Table 310.16 governs in the United States; BS 7671 Appendix 4 and IEC 60364-5-52 govern elsewhere with a different installation method taxonomy.
